Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
Jafnar Gueye was recently selected as the AVP for Finance for the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). Previously he served as Chief Financial Officer of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where he led the agency's financial management functions and played a key part in navigating the Bureau through periods of significant organizational change and budget reductions. Before joining the CFPB, Jafnar's federal public service career included work at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the United States Air Force, where he served in various roles including Director of Operations, Budget Officer, and Finance Manager. Prior to his federal government time, he taught Economics before serving in active-duty with US Army Special Operations.
Jafnar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Orleans, a Master of Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) both in Economics, and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. Throughout his career, Gueye has been recognized for steady, principled leadership during moments of institutional uncertainty, helping to steer financial operations and safeguard public interests.
